Survivors of childhood cancer can find current up-to-date information about cancer survivor news, studies, drugs or advancements in treatment.
Persisting Fatique - Patients often assume that when their treatments are over, their fatigue will be over. It is not so, said David Spiegel, M.D., of Stanford University School of Medicine. We are fortunate that we live in a time when cancer survivorship is an issue. However, late effects of therapy can come as a surprise.
NCI Awards $15 Million to Study Cancer Survivors - The National Cancer Institute (NCI) has earmarked $15 million over five years for new research into the physical and emotional well-being of cancer survivors who are alive five or more years after diagnosis. This is in addition to $20 million already earmarked by the NCI for survivorship-related studies.
Risk of Cancer Among Offspring - Using data from national cancer and birth registries in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, 5847 offspring of 14,652 survivors of cancer in childhood, were followed.
