" The artist is nothing without the gift, but the gift is nothing without work. - Emile Zola (1840-1902) "

A little about me...

Hi! My name is Aaron. I am 18 years old. I am a student at Wisconsin Lutheran College right now. Some of my hobbies and interests... baseball, swimming, music, having fun.

Information about my illness...

In 1983, when I was 1 years old, I was diagnosed with Wilms' Tumor. I was treated at Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, Virginia; follow-ups at UW-Madison. I had radiation, chemotherapy and surgery.

My words to others...

My suggestions to other survivors are... Hey guys we've been given a second chance by God. Why on earth waste it? Live life, have fun, and be proud to be a kid with courage. We are special.

The most important lesson I learned from my experience is... My experience with cancer...is something I don't remember. However the impact it has on my life is profound just the same. I appreciate the simple things in life 17 years after my treatment. Cancer impacted my life in a lot of ways. The biggest way is the way I live and how I act to others. This may seem an odd thing to say and others may have a different opinion on it...but cancer in hindsight is one of the best things to happen to me. My reason for thinking this is the effect it has on me today in such a positive way.

A positive outcome from my experience is... I love life...I love making friends. I love having fun. It's great being a kid with courage.

" I wrote a piece called the 10th inning. I'll put in on here soon."
