Christine

" Isn't funny that the things that are supposed to make us weaker, only make us stronger!"

A little about me...

Hi! My name is Christine. I am 24 years old. I am a third year medical student at Indiana University School of Medicine. Some of my hobbies and interests... Running, arts and crafts, going out with friends, playing with my nieces and nephew.

Information about my illness...

In 1985, when I was 8 years old, I was diagnosed with Endodermal Sinus Tumor. I was treated at Children's Memorial Hospital in Chicago, IL. I had chemotherapy and surgery.

My words to others...

My suggestions to other survivors are... to enjoy the chance you were given to see life in that wonderful way you're weren't able to see it before you became a survivor. It's a great privilege.

The most important lesson I learned from my experience is... how important my family is to me and the huge amount of love we have for each other.

A positive outcome from my experience is... that I am studying to be a doctor so that I can help other sick kids.... Hopefully the insight I have will enable me to be as great at what I do as some of the doctors, nurses and volunteers with who I was lucky enough to cross paths.

" One of the greatest things about having survived cancer is being able to be friends with some of the most courageous, wonderful people because of this experience."
