" Cancer is not the end, it's only the beginning of a new path - Written by me, Justin "

A little about me...

Hi! My name is Justin. I am 20 years old. I am currently a Sales Secretary and college student. Some of my hobbies and interests... Writing, graphic design, and photography.

Information about my illness...

In 1998, when I was 16 years old, I was diagnosed with Osteogenic Sarcoma. I was treated at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. I had chemotherapy.

My words to others...

My suggestions to other survivors are... Live life like there is no tomorrow by living each day to its fullest potential and then exceeding those expections. Listen to your heart, your friends that understand what you went through, and then everyone else. You know what is right, your friends understand and support, and everyone else is there to watch and support as much as possible.

The most important lesson I learned from my experience is... Not to take life for granted and treat life with respect. Life is short and we are proof of that. And every experience that I encounter will benefit me more in the long run.

A positive outcome from my experience is... I have become more than I knew that I could before cancer. Stronger willed and more understanding to the things that happen around me. I am no longer a shy guy, but a guy with a lot to say. The little things are nothing compared to my fight for life. And the experiences that come across my path everyday are cherished more.

" I remember what it was like before cancer, I remember what it was like dealing and fighting cancer, and I know what it is like after cancer. The first two I never want to return to. Life after cancer has given me so much more in life, friends, love, and appreciation for life and nature. It has alowed me to face my fears, the courage to continue the fight, and the encouragement needed to help others in my situation. "
