" Enjoy everyday to it's fullest and appreicate eveything that you have "

A little about me...

Hi! My name is Michele. I am 30 years old. I am a dietitian. Some of my hobbies and interests... music, sports, searching information about cancer and nutrition.

Information about my illness...

In 1976, when I was 7 years old, I was diagnosed with soft tissue sarcoma. I was treated at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. I had radiation, chemotherapy and surgery.

My words to others...

My suggestions to other survivors are... Recovery is an ongoing process. There are many stages and I believe in order to fully recover, we have to go through all of the stages. It's okay to express all of the emotions you are feeling, it's part of the recovery process. The best thing I did was to join a support group. They were there when I needed them and now I am there for the people that need me.

The most important lesson I learned from my experience is... I have learned to love myself and be patient with other people. We all have our limitations and no one should be singled out for that.

A positive outcome from my experience is... I have met people I would have never had met, I have done things I would have never have done, and I believe that I am more in touch with myself and others than I would have been if I had not had cancer.

" I have written several songs about cancer and am in the process of recoding a CD to benefit the American Cancer Society in the fight against childhood and other cancers. "
