Christa

" Never Give Up! "

A little about me...

Hi! My name is Christa. I am 5 years old. I am a little pre-schooler!! Some of my hobbies and interests... I am starting Tap/Jazz and loved Cheerleading.

Information about my illness...

In 1998, when I was 3 years old, I was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma. I was treated at Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital, Hollywood, Fl. I had radiation, chemotherapy, surgery and a bone marrow transplant.

My words to others...

My suggestions to other survivors are... Other than make everyday count, you must laugh and smile. Do not shut down, others will help you battle when you are weak. Make your hospital room your own. Surround yourself with your things; comforters, pictures, posters, lamps, anything that makes you comfy. This is your battle, for your life, stand up for what you want!!!

The most important lesson I learned from my experience is... Fight the good fight and Never Give Up. Always smile and have fun, no matter what. Home is where your heart is, not where your feet are.

A positive outcome from my experience is... I stop and smell every flower, and maybe pick it. I fight with my brother every chance I get, but always kiss him goodnight or good-bye. Nurses are wonderful people and can be great friends, even after treatment. Mommy's hair is always there when I need it to hold onto.

" As a mother to this most vivacious, strong willed young lady, I have to say Christa taught us (the Adults) alot about what is important in life. Nothing else matters and as long we are together, we are a family. The love is endless. Thank God!"
