A little about me...

Hi! My name is David. I am 5 years old. I am a brave kid! Some of my hobbies and interests... are action figures especially Batman, Star Wars, Spiderman, and various others. I love to play basketball and baseball. I love our cat Chocolate. Brett Favre is so cool!

Information about my illness...

In 1996, when I was 3 years old, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. I was treated at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Milwaukee. I had chemotherapy.

My words to others...

My suggestions to other survivors are... to get a pet when you first get diagnosed. We got a cat and I loved her so much that it helped me not to think about my cancer and treatment so much. Make sure you use EMLA cream for pokes. To make medicines go down a little easier, use Dannon Sprinklin's Yogurt to mix with your crushed pills. If you don't like Bactrim as the pink liquid, ask for it in pills instead and have them crushed up for you and mixed with yogurt (or whatever YOU like).

The most important lesson I learned from my experience is... that life can still be fun after having cancer and going through the horrible treatment.

A positive outcome from my experience is... I can take lots of medicines now. I got lots of new toys and special things from family and friends. My family is very special to me.
